Ahhh you knew it was coming… who didn’t? Well coming soon you’ll be able to “Create. Play. Get Paid.” over on The Rock Band Network. So that means if you are a Band, Studio, or a Label you’ll Use the tools provided to author playable tracks. Upload and submit your tracks for review by the Rock Band Creators community. Approved tracks become available in the Rock Band Store and on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace*, and you get a cut of every purchase. Not too bad… It’s kind of like the way the Apple Developers process works but with a musical twist.

Below are some details provided by the Rock Band Creators site which explains the process a little better.

  • Mix your multi track recordings.
    • You will need to mix them to fit the standards for Rock Band.
  • Create MIDI gameplay info.
    • Reaper is a Digital Audio Workstation. We have been working with Reaper’s creators (Cockos, Inc.) to add a number of specific Rock Band Network additions that will make creating MIDI song information simpler and more intuitive. http://www.reaper.fm
  • Create a song package with Magma.
    • Magma is a PC tool that we are creating to allow authors to build Rock Band Network song packages.
  • Audition your song package within Rock Band 2.2
    • We will release a patch to Rock Band 2 that will enable “Audition Mode.” This will allow you to test out your song packages in game with features like speed up and slow down cheats and autoplay.
  • Upload to creators.rockband.com for Peer Review
    • Once your song is ready, upload it here. Other members of the community will try out your song, give you feedback, and submit reviews. Once your song has passed the review process, it is automatically approved for sale on Xbox Live.
  • Sell your song on Xbox Live
    • When the store opens, later this year, songs will be available for others to download via the RBN store ingame.

500 Million Downloads at the iPhone App Store

Apple Apps

Well according to engadgetmobile.com which stats that after the launch of the Apple iPhone App store in July of ‘08 and hitting 100 million downloads in September, the iPhone App Store has just crossed the 500 million download mark and it only happened six months after the site / app store opening. Which I find simply amazing when you compare that to the iTunes Music Store, which apparently took two whole years to cross the 500 million mark. Ahhh the love of technology and it’s little gadgets. And in the mix of the iPhone Apps is my friends app which I mentioned a while back if you recall… Go! the Tetris style game for your iPhone.
