Just when I get rid of my Call of Duty: World at War game Activision and game developer Treyarch announce that they are releasing a new map pack titled “Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 3“. From the screen shots (shown above) the new map packs look pretty intense. Here are the details about the new map pack:

“Fight for ocean territory in “Battery,” an armored island surrounded by anti-ship mines and shore to ship cannons. Watch out for sniper fire as you defend Russia’s most coveted resource in “Revolution,” and keep a sharp eye out through the dense, overcast city streets in “Breach,” set at Berlin’s historic Brandenburg Gate. Zombies return in all their undead glory with “Der Riese” (Zombie Factory), a Nazi research facility featuring the weapon upgrading Pack-A-Punch Machine. Use the teleporters to escape in an instant and fight to the death in pursuit of the map’s 10 new Achievements/Trophies.”

Battery Map details:
An armored island surrounded by anti-ship mines and shore to ship cannons, “Battery” places soldiers on a mid-sized map based on Fort Drum (El Fraile Island) in the Philippines. Expect plenty of areas to hide and heavy close quarters combat!

Breach Map details:
Overwhelm the enemy in “Breach,” set in Berlin’s overcast and crowded city streets surrounding the historic Brandenburg Gate. Only the fittest will survive in this fast-paced, dense battlefield!

Revolution Map details:
“Revolution” pits soldiers against each other in Russia’s cold city streets and large factory environment. Keep your fingers warm, your gun loaded, and your head low through this sniper-friendly territory!

“Der Riese” (Zombie Factory) Map details:
The undead horde approaches! Fight for your life in “Der Riese” (Zombie Factory), an all-new Zombie map set in a secret Nazi research facility featuring the Pack A Punch Machine, a device capable of upgrading weapons at the touch of a button. Use the teleporters to escape the vicious Hell Hounds and pray that the Wunderwaffe will appear before it’s too late. This map includes 10 new Achievements/Trophies.

Be sure to check out the Xbox Marketplace and Que up the Map Pack 3 download once they are released in sometime in August.

That’s right folks… there’s another map pack being release on June 30, 2009 according to IGN.com. Here is a brief description from the Official Call of Duty website: Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 2 continues to expand the addictive COD multiplayer experience with four new maps. Battle to control the river bridge in “Banzai” a bright jungle map featuring a waterfall and hidden caves. In “Corrosion” face down your enemy in a shattered train yard, and in “Sub Pens” wipe the monsoon rain from your eyes as you struggle over a bombed-out submarine base. The Zombies return in “Shi No Numa” (Zombie Swamp) featuring Perk machines, the deadly new Wunderwaffe DG-2, new Achievements/Trophies and flaming Hell Hounds.

Although I know longer have the Call of Duty: World at War game anymore I still like the fact that there is going to be new achievements added. I may have to borrow it from a friend or rent it and see how the maps are in comparison to the first map pack. The one called the “Corrosion Map” looks like it is pretty interesting, it looks as if there maybe a ton of camping spots for all those campers out there.

This link may just come in handy once you download the map pack. It’s a link to the Map Pack 2 Overhead Schematics in other words it’s detailed information and tips that allow you to study the maps and stead ahead of the opponent when it comes to close combat.

According to the Official Call of Duty website they excited to announce their first downloadable content (DLC) Map Pack for Call of Duty World at War. The new Call of Duty World at War map pack will include three new Multiplayer levels, as well as an additional level for the ever-popular bonus Co-Op mode, Nazi Zombies! Below is a list of the new downloadable maps as well as a brief description of them.

Nightfire
In “Nightfire,” players take to the streets of a war-ravaged Berlin with only the flames of the burning city to expose the enemy.

Station
“Station” offers a bombed out underground train station littered with hidden passageways and destroyed subway cars.

Knee Deep
“Knee Deep” takes place on the island of Peleliu in a once tranquil village turned chaotic Japanese command center.

Verrückt (Zombie Asylum)
The fan favorite 4-player co-op Nazi Zombies Bonus Mode returns with “Verrückt,” a terrifying Zombie asylum featuring more weapons, perks via the addition of Perks-a-Cola machines, electroshock defenses and the endless zombie horde.

The Call of Duty team has been very hush-hush regarding the details of the COD5 map packs until now. The DLC Map Pack #1 is due out sometime in March of ‘09 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC platforms.
