I just recently purchased my DELL PC with the capabilities to run dual monitors. However, about an hour or two of working with both screens (Photoshop on one & Dreamweaver on the other) all of a sudden I’d get the “blue screen of death” (BSOD). At first I was like WTF? the PC is brand new! So the first thing I did was unplug the connection to the PC and monitor and restart the PC thinking that would work… nope! Soon after I’d get the BSOD again… this time I thought hmmm something is wrong so I called Dell customer support hoping they’d help. WRONG! The guy on the other end of the phone tells me that it might be my software and I’d have to pay for software tech support… SO I started arguing with the guy about paying for software support when the PC is new so I said “I just bought the PC!!” he then said “either pay for the software support or buy a new graphics card which may be the problem” I was like “are you kidding me?? I just purchased this PC less then six months ago and you want me to purchase new hardware inorder for it to work properly??” WTF!

So after the Dell customer support battle I Googled the error that I was getting which was “Display driver atikmdag stopped responding and has successfully recovered” or it’s something along those lines… the BSOD happens so fast that it’s hard to capture the exact phrase. I haven’t gotten any luck from Dell as to If they are going to send a replacement graphics card or something to help this error stop. However, I have found a bunch of sites that are geared towards this same topic. Here they are below… If you know of any others please feel free to leave them as a comment.

I have yet to find a solid fix or solution for the Atikmdag error however I check the above sites often and try out the new solutions so If I happen to come across anything that works I’ll post about it.
