I recently reviewed a copy of The Blender Gamekit: Interactive 3D for Artists which was very informative when it came to 3D design. The book came with a CD that was the perfect guide that shows you some example games and shows some specific details on how features in those games work. The book was produced by The Blender Foundation was well as printed and distributed by No Starch Press.

Here is a brief description from the No Starch Press…

The Blender GameKit, 2nd Edition starts with an extensive section for people who are new to 3D—explaining all basic concepts—or new to Blender; with a full introduction to the interface. Then it shows in step-by-step tutorials the fun of creating models, adding motion to them, and how to turn them into simple games. Experienced 3D artists will appreciate the more complex game demos, the character animation tutorials, the introduction to Python, a tutorial with the Frankie character, and the advanced reference section.

The CDROM contains several playable and editable Blender game demos, created by renowned artists from the Blender community. It also contains all the files needed for the tutorials and Blender V2.48, for all platforms.

The title says only half of what you’ll find over at Factpile. The site is jam packed with battle/duel posts like Hulk Vs Pinhead or some WTF posts which are pretty funny! One thing I noticed when I was introduced to the site is the amazing amount of comments some of the posts get… Like this one (Warhammer 40K Vs Nintendo) for instance has over 1,400 comments! In the blog world that is pretty impressive. Ehh and I thought I was happy with my 663 comments.

When it comes to my review of the Assassin’s Creed game I felt that the game design and details were really nice however, I HATE playing a game that starts out with a ton of long intro / plot movies that you can’t skip… Kind of like how the game MASS Effect was when I started to play that. After the first two major scenes in MASS Effect I was like screw this I removed the game and returned it to my friend. To me it wasn’t really worth watching the videos / movies and getting minimal game play. That’s pretty much how it was with the Assassin’s Creed game so needless to say I’ll be returning it to the gaming store (Gamestop) to trade it in for another game. Which pretty much explains why I buy alot of my games used…!Similar Posts:
