When you hit a level 55 in the game Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare for the Xbox 360. There is an option that is given that allows you to go “Prestige Mode” it’s almost like a way of saying give up all your current weapons, classes, and challenges to start all over again with a nice little Prestige Mode Icon / Badge. If you choose to take the option of Prestige Mode then you can continue to go Prestige for the max of 10 times (55 levels times 10). Its all done to pretty much show theses awesome Prestige Badges / Icons that are listed below.

u dont unlock anything different than u do in the first ranking no diffrent weapons or perks - and when or if u do go into prestige you lose everything you have unlocked and have to do it agen - and yes this is correct as i am on level 3 prestige.
no you dont gain more weapons lmao. you go to level 55 and unlock all the weapons and if you get a gold weapon along the way to 55.. and if you go prestige you lose all your perks and weapons, along with the gold ones. you basically restart to level 1 to just get a diferent badge next to your level and name
Sorry, you are wrong, no more weapons are unlocked, the benefit, and the only benefit I can blatantly see is that you get a different rank badge, as shown above, this shows you eliteness to other players, although you lose all guns, and it is as if you are starting online mode again.

You get absolutely nothing for prestiging 10x. Its just a way of showing off you much you play the damn game.
no man, prestige is literally what it says on the tin, you just unlock the badge to show off that you are better than others :P, each time you need to work your way back up through ranks to re-unlock guns.. makes the game a bit more interesting, and definately makes you better with all guns
the one good thing that you get out of hitting a level 10 prestige is that you can try to get all the GOLD weapons!!!

I think it kinda sucks, rumors were you could have 2 attachments on your weapons at 10th prestige but its false. You can unlock the gold weapons at any level, you just have to do all the expert challenges in each weapon category.

And all the other ppl said, u dnt unlock anything knew but i got bored of my lvl 55 prestige dso i start a new one. Add shabs101, im currently 54 non prestige but ill et to like 30 prestige in a few days. Good luck
you don’t unlock anymore thing in prestige than u do when u finish all the ranks the first rime you play. Prestige is just for the icon there is no bonus. You lose all your guns and you lose all your challenges it only leaves your leadership board rankings and stuff like your k/d ratio(kill/death.

yes beause you need to get anther 5,500 xp before u can prestige and thats after u got 55.
you have to gain the last experience points to prestige. and yes you will lose all of your guns, challenges you’ve completed and everything you’ve unlocked. i’m currently level 55 prestige 3 and i have all of the golden weapons except for the golden dragunov.
Every time u choose 4 a new prestige mode, you will have to start all over again. If u want gold weapens, u don’t need 2 start over again next prestige mode. Just stay @ level 55, but u will need 2 complete all chalenges.
When you get to level 55, you may choose to remain on level 55 with all the weapons and perks you have unlocked, or you can accept prestige mode. Prestige mode gives you a special ranking badge next to your name, and takes away all of your weapons and perks that you have unlocked and resets your rank to level 1. You then have to rank up all over again and unlock all the weapons and perks over again. You can to this all ten times to achieve the highest level of prestige mode. There is no real benefit to accepting prestige mode, apart from the fact that you get cool new ranking badges that show you have skill to get this far in the game.
When you go into prestige mode you will play the game with as a lvl 1 ranking but just a different badge logo,you will lose all of your achievements and start as though you are playing from the start again,there are no unlockables in prestige mode which you cant get in the first mode,all you get to make you good again,is current experience nothing else,I should know as i am in prestige myself,Level 2 prestige,Ranked 54,Everything i have just said is correct,there is no need to ask anything about prestige again.

I am level 7 and in my first prestige mode and i was starting to get bored in the late 40’s and 50’s levels becuase there is nothing to do i find it much more fun starting again and unlocking weapons and finding ones which i havent even tried out realising them to be better than the ones i used to use ive only played 4 or 5 games since going prestige but leveling up is a lot easier and it wont take long to get all the guns back once you realise just unlock all attatchments for every gun and you’ll be back up there in no time!

the gold guns r horrible all they do is give away where u r. I highly recommend staying at prestige 0. it also douse not show that your better then other players because I’m a prestige 2 lvl 48 and i can own lvl55 prestige 10s all it shows is that u have no life.
gold guns are fun to have, they don’t really give you away, but it is a little bit easier to see you if you run n’ gun. but all the golden guns look awesome. i’m bout to be on prestige 4 and prolly by 5 in a day or so. it’s not all that bad to prestige, even though you do start all over, it gives you something to do, rather than just stay at 55 and do nothing. to me the barrett sniper isn’t good at all. the M40A3 sniper (the first sniper you unlock) is the best one to me. why don’t you believe alex? my friend prestiged at least 3 times in one week and he’s only 13, his PS3 name is El_Wray.

Well you do unlock somthing extra in prestige mode! =) Everytime you complete a prestige rank an extra grenade is added to the martordom perk so instead of dropping one grenade you drop 2 grenades everytime you die then it increases once you get to level ten prestige when you use the martordom perk you will drop 10 grenades!
Ok, Firstly that was just a stupid rumor and NO You DO NOT get an extra martyrdom grenade drop for every grenade drop. Why? I dont see why the developers would do that in the first place.. Its just plain out retarded and EVERYONE and I do mean EVERYONE would be using the Martyrdom perk making the game just retarded. Secondly for those who keep ask this one question over and over (ie: “Do you keep the Golden Desert Eagle and my Weapons if I do prestige?”) Here’s Your Answer: No you do NOT keep the guns or perks you have. You only keep your online game stats and gain a different level bage for evertime you go through prestige and end up starting again like every new person does.
For the record I am a Lvl. 55 Rank 10 Presitge Player(Golden Cross) and I use the Martyrdom Perk I Do NOT drop 10 grenades everytime I die.
Yep, you loose it all when you go prestige, however… and here’s the really cool bit.. you get to keep your clan tag!!… erm not sure whether that exciting or not. But at least you can go back to shouting and screaming at your inadeqauate weaponry all over again. I like going prestige in an strange deluded and masochistic way.

Ninja D is right, I’m a prestige mode lvl 2 with 3 days and 10 hours of play time. Now times that by 5 and you have 410 hours of play time…MY GOD GO OUTSIDE! They should put the k/d ratio next to the name cause that is the only true indicator of skil. I have crushed people who have WAY more play time then me and a k/d of .80 - .99. Mine is 1.14 with 9800 somethin kills and 8500 somethin kills…That is skill, maybe not top notch but at least a better indicator then a little picture you get after slaving away for 410 hours.
Just becuse youre high on the prestige level doesnt mean you don’t have a life you idiots…think about it…like 3 games of sabatage could gofor 15+ min and if you rack up kills or defuse/plant bomb you could easily get over 1500exp points in a game…if that happens like 4 times-ish…which isnt that much really you could get over 6000exp pretty fast….ranking up levels very quickly…it doesnt mean you “dont have a life” my god lol.

I went to prestige mode thinking you unlock new wepons etc, but you don’t. All you get is a new badge lol. Some people say it’s pointless, others don’t. I don’t think it is, as it resets your progress of the game, makes it worth playin all over again. Complete everything and sit at lvl 55 would be abit boring no?

Anyways, I am a 1 Prestige 32, with 2 days, 12 hours, and 23 minutes of gameplay. I have 500 kills over deaths. If you play the game enough to try to find a site with the Prestige badges, which require time to get, that would mean that you are interested in either the design of the badges or are looking forward to going into Prestige. That would also point out the fact that you are more than interested in the game. I will straight out tell you that I am hooked.

Without Perstige mode COD4 would have been boring, People who think Perstige mode is not a good idea are wrong, just wait until your level 55 and you will say to yourself this is gay, im not leveling up. I use to think that but now im on 7th Perstige mode. Besides you get cool looking badge and you will get alot better with the weapons, so put a smile on and do perstige mode. =)

I’m may be only 51 on my 2nd prestige, but I know a little bit about ranking up fast. If your training for your experience search and destroy, and headquarters are very good for the later lvls when it starts taking more exp. When your going for marksman and expert challenges team deathmatch, a long sabotage, or groundwars are really good for racking up those kills. And for all my fellow frustrated snipers, don’t blow a gasket because your stopping power .50 cal didn’t one shot that juggerfag in the chest, simply put on UAV jammer and go to hardcore team deathmatch. Perfect place for sniper marksmans, almost all the hits are one shot kills. Kudos =)

I thought you got double attachments after your tenth prestige. Can anyone with a ps3 version either confirm or deny? It’s possible that this could be an exclusive to the ps3. I Know the pc version doesn’t even have prestige.

say i get all the challenges for the mini uzi and p90 done before prestige mode, but not the others. then in my first prestige i do all the challenges for the other LMG’s, will i get a golden gun?
I just made it to prestige level 25. I get to call in nuclear strikes from the space station. also i use the hubbell telescope to soom in on the games vechical license plates. Oh and I get to control the weather.

The Prestige medals/icons are actually US Marine Corps./Dept. of the Navy medals; they are, like in real life, prestigious. Nothing more than eye candy. No real rewards for them.

Call of Duty 4 will be coming out with an update, and that update will have new MAPS and PERKS, the new perks will be that you can have *exaple* Red Dot scope WITH a silencer. In order to use the perks you must be in 10th Prestige, and rank 55. This update will be here around the end of March…Thank You

Yeah AFTER GOING prestige lvl 11 the hidden level i unlocked a badge and now i can equip two pistols, i can put on two attachments and can use night vision on all levels anyone saying different is a god damn idiot.
I’m glad I came upon this when I did, cant believe all these people who think you cant go past level ten prestige. Once you get to 11 the new sets that Charlie Oscar Delta released you can have two attachments, duel wield pistols and some other stuff this other guy didn’t mention.

This is all good to know, I’m heading towards lvl 55 the first time round and probably will stay 55 cos I don’t play the game enough. By the time Vegas 2 or whatever comes out I’d probably still be trying to unlock favouriteCOD4 stuff and playing it even less.
It’s handy If you can go prestige at any point once youre 55 though, maybe the new maps due in the spring will keep COD4 going, ahead of the competition.
I don’t see the harm in letting prestige classes keep gold camo for a favourite weapon or something purely cosmetic like a bigger moustache on your face graphics when youre a Russkie (for example)

Man, I will say going through prestige a few times has totally changed my weapon choices. When I first started playing I swore by the M16 for a LONG time. Now, its one of the last guns I choose. The last couple times through prestige (Im only on the 4th run) I have just been selecting guns that I didn’t usually use (for me thats sniper rifles and SMGs). This game is what made me go out and buy a 360, and I definitely don’t regret it.
when you get to level 55 prestige 10, do you have the option to start the entire game over where the prestige mode is highlighted? or does it not give you the option?
I’m on bog standard, commander level 55, now in a lvl 55 clan.
I have found out you can still unlock camouflages and gun gizmos, you can also still go for the challenges (if you like ticking boxes) but you don’t get the exp points.
I’ve also found that I am still changing my weapons around a fair bit, trying new ones and unlocking the things I like the look of. I guess staying on 55 is what you make it.
The emphasis of the game has changed now, I’m thinking more long term than I did. I’m spending more attention on getting my kill ratio up, whereas before I’d be looking for the experience reward even if it meant being killed trying to do something strange with explosives, or losing a kill because I missed the headshot.
I am still enjoying the game as much as I did before, that is the point
WHEN I REACHED LEVEL 10 PRESTIGE, AN OPTION IN THE BARRACKS-ELITE MENU GAVE ME AN OPTION OF EITHER A GIFTCARD TO BURGERKING OR WENDY’S. I PICKED BURGERKING CAUSE I LIKE THIER FRIES.

Right gamers listen up, when you get “level 10 presteige” the president, and the queen on england come to your door and thank you for contributing to the online call of duty experience. then you will receive a token telling you that you are entitled to 000.001 cence to spend in stop and shop. THEN! if you get gold in every weapon you will propbably be suffering from atherritis for the rest of your life, but honestly you do get these bullets for every gun that transfrom into grenades and blow everyone up, completely and you get 5000,000 xp for it
two attachments on a gun could make sense, I’d go for the scope/silencer combo on the M14 for a quiet sniper.
But if you give a reward to level10 prestigers then eventually as more people finish prestige, the reward (if its any good) will make the game unfair to new gamers and people won’t play it any more.
If you’re going to allow 2 gadgets on one gun, it would have to be a perk, probably a perk 2 perk (since they are probably the better ones), and you might also have to overhaul the attachment system in case things were incompatible.
I think they got things right, the game is well balanced and fun as it stands.
Im at level 10 prestige mode ,try playin me and u get your ass kicked
If you get to 10th prestige you unlock a 4th perk so you can have 4 instead of 3
It seems to me that as you get more prestige you get matched up against players with more prestige. I could be wrong, but my wife is prestige level 1, rank 40 and she gets matched up against newbs all the time. Something to consider.

Prestige mod just makes you start again if you get to level 55 normal do not do prestige mode because getting to level 55 means you have got a good shot and wepons so why do prestige mode? Its all rubish to me
FOR AL THE NOOBS HERE. U CAN ALREADY GET GOLDEN WEAPONS WHITOUT GOING PRESTIGE. THE ONLY REASON PPL DONT DO IT IS BECAUSE THEY WANT TO GO IN PRESTIGE AND IF U DO THAT U LOSE UR GOLD WEPS. HOW DOES IT WORK WHIT GOLD WEAPONS U MIGHT ASK. U GET THE GOLDEN WEP IF AL EXPERT CHALLENGES OF THAT CATAGORY WEP IS COMEPLETED, SO IF U START OVER U LOSE THE EXPERT CHALLANGES U COMPLETED. GOLD WEPS ARE JUST NICE, NOTHING SPECIAL, THE WEPS THAT ARE GOLD SUCK: AK47 BAD WEP, SLOW RATE OF FIRE BAD IN CLOSE COMBAT BECAUSE THE MP5 EN P90 ARE MUCH FASTER. MINI UZI ONLY GOOD FOR CLOSE COMBAT, NOT THE IDEAL WEP FOR SEARCH AND DESTROY. DRAGUNOV, NON 1 SHOT KIL U NEED TO AIM ON HIS HEAD FOR A 1 SHOT KIL HOWEVER OTHER SNIPERS LIKE THE M40, R700 AND 50 CALL. CAN KIL WHIT 1 SHOT. AND THE SHOTGUN, ITS JUST A SHOTGUN SO IF U NEED A SHOTGUN U CAN TAKE THE GOLDEN ONE. GOLD WEPS ARE NICE AND IF U HAVE THE BLUE TIGER AND RED TIGER ITS OK. eddy, why would u have no life if u are in the 10th prestige, my main goal was olso to go in 10 prestige but u shouldnt hate the persons who bought the game in september and now already have reached the max rank. I HAVE A GREAT LIFE, I ONLY PLAY ON THE XBOX for like 2 hrs a day. and im in 4e prestige and i play the game in hrs for 110 hrs…, NOOB U HAVE NO LIFE
when you finsih the 10th prestige george micheal comes to your house to serenade you. and your charecter gets a car and has to go to the gym like on gta san andreas
When you hit 55 in level 10 prestiege you get everything back right?
if you do prestige, it just shows everybody that you have no life and nothing better to do.
